Adult & Travel Vaccinations
Prevention of tetanus needs a booster after ten years.
Travel Vaccinations can be arranged at the surgery with the practice nurse.
Please come in and fill in a travel vaccination questionnaire and return it to the surgery. Goto top
Child Health & Immunisations

We recommend and strongly encourage full immunisation for all babies and children under five. Goto top
Coronary Heart Disease
If you have angina or had any coronary event, you will be offered an appointment at the clinic and we will support you in your continuing care. Goto top
Counselling Service
Counselling support is available to help people through various difficulties. Referal is made by the doctor.

Diabetic Clinic
Non-insulin dependant diabetics will be invited to attend the clinic. We aim to help you maintain a healthy safe lifestyle. Goto top
Dietitian (Diabetic)
The dietitian has a session offering support and advice to diabetic patients helping you to understand your diet.

Family Planning
All types of family planning advice are covered including The Pill and Contraceptives Injections.
Both the Doctor and Nurse are qualified and able to discuss this with you. Also available is counselling about sterilisation and pre-pregnancy advice.

Do you need an introduction to exercise? if so, see any of the nursing staff. Goto top
Home Visits
If your illness prevents you from attending surgery, a home visit can be requested if possible before 10:30am. Full details may be taken so doctor can assess the urgency of the call.
Please remember a home visit can take the same time as four consultations. Goto top

Maternity Care

Care throughout your pregnancy is available at the surgery. Once there is a confirmation of your pregnancy you will be asked to make an appointment with the midwifery team which is situated 2 doors away from the practice.
Ante-natal checks will be made with doctor by appointment. Post-natal examination will also be made by appointment 8 weeks after delivery. Goto top
Minor Surgery
An appointment can be arranged after the problem has been assed by doctor. This includes some type of injections. E.g. For Tennis Elbow, as well as the removal of "Lumps and Bumps" under local anaesthetic. Goto top
Physiotheraphy
All medical staff can refer you for physiotheraphy if appropriate. Goto top
Podiatry
There are regular podiatry sessions at the surgery but referal is made by the medical and nursing staff. Goto top
Prescriptions
Many medical conditions are stable over long periods, so that a doctor may authorise repeat prescriptions between checks on your progress.
All the prescribing information is stored on computer, and the counterfoil of each prescription shows all the long term medicines you take.
To request a repeat prescription simply bring the counterfoil in to the surgery and tick what you would like or telephone 270033 after 10am on a morning and read the medicine to the secretary. Please remember to order your prescription before you run out of medicine as the prescription will be ready in two working days [Excluding bank holidays and weekends].
At times your medication may need to be reviewed and doctor may leave a message for you. Goto top
Smoking Cessation

Smoking seriously damages your health and the health of others in the family. If you would like help to "quit
the habit" please make an appointment to see any of our nurses.

Well Woman / Well Man / Health Promotion

All women aged between 16 and 65 should have regular cervical smears, usually every two to three years. Both men and women should have their blood pressure measured, urine checked for sugar and protein, and "risk-factors" assessed every three years as well. All newly registered patients are offered these checks routinely and reminders are sent for cervical smears.
Everyone else over 16 has an open invitation to participate in the program, aimed at improving levels of personal "health awareness". Goto top
